Tamil Nadu state was colonized by several waves of migrants during different time periods. Based on morphologicaltraits Malhotra et al. (1981) recognized the existence of three morphological types among the populations of TamilNadu. The Proto–Australoid features were identified in Paraiyan, Chakkiliyar and Mutracha. People with these features, according to them, might have entered the Tamil region between 15,000–20,000 years ago. Paleo–Mediterranean and Mediterranean features were identified in Kallar and Vanniyar. The antiquity of Mediterranean populations has been placed 10,000 years ago. Western ranchycephalic features identified in Mudaliars, Vellalars, Chettiars, Brahmins and Naidus, might have entered at least 3,000 to 5,000 years ago. The PCA placed Paraiyan, Chakkiliyar and Kallar in the same quadrant, even though Kallar having distinct morphological features. Although, Pallan of scheduled caste group placed in separate quadrant showed affinity with Brahmins (Iyer and Iyengar) in phylogenetic analysis .The genetic affinities of these populations, thus, broadly correspond to their known ethnohistorical affinities. This present study also confirms earlier findings of Balakrishnan and Sanghvi (1981).

Glossolalia (Tongue)- Scientific perspectives

In pentecostal Churches Speaking in Tongue is common. Is it Real or Mental Illness.
Here are the Scientific Evidence.

Abstract

Glossolalia (or “speaking in tongues”) is an unusual mental state that has great personal and religious meaning. Glossolalia is experienced as a normal and expected behavior in religious prayer groups in which the individual appears to be speaking in an incomprehensible language. This is the first functional neuroimaging study to demonstrate changes in cerebral activity during glossolalia. The frontal lobes, parietal lobes, and left caudate were most affected.

Conclusion:

Newberg and colleagues used imaging technology to look at the brains of Pentecostal Christians speaking in tongues - known as glossolalia .Then looked at their brains when they were singing gospel music. They found that those practicing glossolalia showed decreased activity in the brain’s language center compared with the singing group.
The imaging results are suggestive of people’s description that they do not have control of their own speech when speaking in tongues.

This information is more for the unbeliever.
